Gifted? (Part 3)

So you may remember reading about ‘Not Robert’ in one of my mum’s previous blog episodes from when she spoke about her reiki training.

It seems that he really started wanting to be known to us as a family nearly 20 years ago, back in around 2004. At that time I spent my weeks away in Preston, at university, and then I came back home for the weekend. Being avid fans of the football, we as a family would to go to the ‘Reebok’ to watch the match and of course have our traditional half time Carr’s Pasty. If you don’t know what a Carr’s Pasty is then you haven’t lived!!

One Friday I returned home to hear a story over dinner from my mum and younger sister Alex after they had visited a mediumship demonstration at the local town hall earlier that week. My mum explained to me that they had received a message from the medium from what he described to them as a mischievous boy child. He also described specific items in our house such as the long cream draped curtains that my mum had just hung in the dining room, but my mum and sister were fairly sceptical and didn’t want to affirm anything, especially having not been able to think who this boy may be. As this tale was being recounted to me I began to feel my blood run cold, straight away I knew who this was... my little wardrobe friend! Not only did I know who it was, but immediately I felt his presence was with us at the dinner table right at that very moment. It started as a swoosh of light pins and needles travelling down the left side of my face and arm, along with ringing in my ears. I suddenly felt very emotional and I became weighed down in my chair. My head felt like it was being held back, my arms became weightless and I can only say that I felt like I was dying though I was not in any pain. I knew this was some kind of contact and I wanted it to stop!! My dad’s face went green with worry, and my little sister went as white as the proverbial ghost, yet my mum jumped out of her chair to hold me and help me with whatever it was that was happening. She also commented on a strong smell of fish, a bit like the one that I used to get in my bedroom when I was younger (see my previous episode - part 2 for the story of this) Once I had settled down we carried on with our dinner and after a while my mum asked me if I wanted her to continue on with the story. I really wanted to hear more so agreed, only for the exact same thing to happen all over again. Needless to say we were all a little freaked out. I told my mum who I thought the ‘boy child’ was and we all agreed that we should look into getting the house blessed by our local spiritual church.

That week I did continue to have a few other strange incidents happen around me...

You might remember the old BT advert with the chameleon phone? Well we had that phone in our living room... so every time the house phone would ring the chameleon would rise up from his branch to a rendition of ‘Karma Chameleon’. It was hilarious, that was until it suddenly began to happen without the phone ringing. The singing Chameleon was then not so funny anymore! Later that week it got unplugged, boxed up and stored away in the cupboard under the stairs.

I went back to my uni house in Preston for the week. I told the girls that I lived with what had happened and felt pretty nervous being alone, especially as my room was on the ground floor on my own, whilst they all had rooms next to each other upstairs. The one night I just could not settle and get to sleep, it got to about 2am and I suddenly started to think about the fire alarm, it was as though I knew that it was going to start going off. A few minutes later, low and behold, the loud sirens started sounding all across the house. Even though I had imagined it was going to happen it was still really disorientating and scary, with me and the girls all checking the house for what could possibly have set it off. None of us were smokers, and there was no other possible explanation that we could find for why it had gone off. We all crawled back to bed only for me to get those same thoughts creeping back in, and it go off again a few minutes later. I don’t think any of us got much sleep that night, the girls probably worrying that the house was going to burn down and me worrying that my little friend have travelled to uni with me. Of course I didn’t say anything, I didn’t want my friends thinking that I was mad! The landlord came out to check it for us the next day, obviously he couldn’t find anything wrong with the system.

So the day of the house blessing came around quite quickly and we all sat waiting nervously for the people from the spiritualist church to arrive. A lady and her daughter, who I would say was about 15, turned up and they seemed I suppose what you would call ‘normal’. They explained to us how they would work around the whole house from the top to the bottom, and asked us to stay together in the one room whilst they worked. They went off to do their thing, and I began to feel really quite sick with a bad headache so decided to go sit outside in the fresh air and just went back in once they had finished. They sat down with us in the living room to explain how they hadn’t come across any spirit people but had noticed a few cold spots around the house, but more worryingly had found a couple of what they called portals. From what I understand these portals are like doors for spirits to pass between this world and the next. One of these was in the dining room and the other in my bedroom. Great!! The good news was that they had cleared these, and told us that they had filled the house with bright light to banish any negative energy and that we should be ok from here on in. They also spoke with me directly, inviting me to join their circle, and teaching me a technique to ‘switch off’ my unwanted talent for attracting spirits, something that I still use to this day when I feel them coming that little bit too close for comfort. The house immediately felt different. Settled and very warm! Opening the living room doors we all felt as it we were stepping off a plane into that glorious wall of heat, it was such a wow moment!
