Healing Hands (part 3)

Today we have part 3 of my Mum’s development of reiki healing (with a few other spiritual aspects thrown in).
This episode sees her start up her reiki practice. If you are curious and wish to sample a session, she is currently taking bookings via Zoom, where she can perform distance healing, or you can pencil in a one to one session for once we are out of lockdown (if you are in the Bolton area).
Contact her via her Facebook Page ‘Chris Daniels Reiki Master’ or you can send a message to me with your details and I will pass them on to her.
My Reiki Journey - So Far (part 3)
written by Chris Daniels, Reiki Master.
‘So I was ready to get started immediately and as instructed by my reiki master, for the first few days I started with one hour healing sessions for myself. As before, I saw the lovely colours swirling and changing shape during each and every session. Sometimes the colours were more intense and sometimes they came up towards me from within a deep dark vortex and at other times the colours reversed and disappeared down the same dark vortex. I was (and still am) absolutely mesmerised. I also noticed that the top of my head was feeling decidedly sore and wondered if this was a symptom of my my found skills / experiences. I contacted Sarah and she assured me that there was nothing to worry about, this was my crown chakra opening up and that it would soon settle down... she was right and it did after a few days.
Obviously if I was going to share this wonderful experience with others I had to have somewhere suitable to work from so without further ado I got cracking, I cleared out our spare room and ordered a treatment table. Such was my conviction that I was doing the right thing, I had finished my training on the Monday and by Friday my new table had arrived and my spare room was good to go (well good enough!). My notes from that Friday were an indication of my enthusiasm for my new journey... 'table arrived yeeehaaa!' and the icing on the cake was that my husband Dave volunteered to be my first victim. I was delighted as he had been very obviously sceptical as I had told him of my experiences to date. There had been a lot of eye rolling.... but my enthusiasm had obviously made him curious too!
I delivered that first unsupervised session with some trepidation, I wondered if the fact that Dave was sceptical would negatively impact what he might experience and I was really keen for him to see and feel at least a fraction of what I had done so far. From my point of view I was aware that things were happening and that the reiki was definitely on! As I worked over his body I started to see the colours (not as strong as I had seen before, but still there), I felt heat at certain points and saw lots of red when over his root chakra (the very bottom of the spine). At one point I also felt like I was being pushed backwards and forwards to the degree that I thought I was going to fall over so I had to open my eyes. There was also lots of heat and twitching when I was on his right knee. At the end of the session Dave reported that he had seen very strong purple colours when I held his right foot and that he had had the urge to laugh a couple of times, but had held it in! He had felt a lot of heat coming from my hands but was not aware of any other of the sensations that I had felt, but his eyes were leaking (he wasn't crying, but I think there had been an emotional release of some kind) and he was very relaxed, which is exactly how you need to feel to be in a place that your healing can start! So all in all I was very pleased with my first solo effort.
The day after, I had booked an appointment to have a private reading my local spiritualist church. Since March 2015 (it was now July 2015) I had started to go from time to time to their church services but as yet did not really know anyone at the church. I certainly had never met or seen the lady who was giving the reading. This lady told me various things that I could relate to, but more interestingly she said that I had a strong Indian connection and that there was an Indian lady and gentleman with me surrounded by a lot of candles. She suggested that one or both of them may be my spirit guides. She went on to say that I should become a healer and start to meditate as she was sure that I was meant to receive messages too. At that point I shared with her that I had just started on my reiki journey. For me this was another indicator that I was on the right path and that my spiritual explorations should continue alongside my reiki.
Over the next few weeks I delivered reiki session to friends, friends of friends and my immediate family. Much of their experience was similar, as in they all saw colours and felt heat from my hands. Some felt that extra pairs of hands were touching them and one reported a sensation that her hands were levitating and she could not feel the table. She also felt that passed loved ones were near. Another reported seeing her mum's face (who had passed) and a cockatoo amongst other things!
Last time, I mentioned that my friend Mary had also embarked on a similar path at the same time as me so we agreed to get together to give reiki to each other (a reiki share). This became something that we both looked forward to because whilst we were both loving giving reiki to others this was an opportunity to receive reiki too. However, for Mary a new avenue had opened up, in that when she was giving reiki she started to hear voices. We discussed whether this was just her mind playing tricks or whether it was real, as it was not something she had experienced pre reiki, but we agreed that her reiki attunement had also flicked on her switch for hearing spirit. (As we met other like minded people who were actively developing their spiritual side we found that this was not uncommon.) I confess to feeling a little jealous of her new found talents but was fascinated to hear who popped up during our sessions together. We started with a lady called Dorothy or Dorothy Ann as she sometimes introduced herself. Other times, Mary would simply hear 'It's me again!' or 'I'm here do you need a hand?' as her introduction. In addition we had a Pat, a James, an Indian lady (!) and 'my young man'. These sessions were often light hearted affairs as we received input from our visitors. During one session I had felt an extra pair of hands on my left hip but said to Mary that it was a shame that I could not feel all the hands of our resident helpers.... Mary chuckled as Dorothy piped up 'We're doing our best!'
As the weeks progressed we had asked 'my young man' what his name was and settled on calling him Robert. He said his name was not Robert but that it was OK to use that name, so he became known as Not Robert. His mischievous side was also apparent as I once felt a definite poke on my left bosom. Dorothy assured us it wasn't her. On another occasion I also felt a well defined tapping on my foot that he did own up to! On another day whilst Mary was receiving reiki she was telling me what she was experiencing when Dorothy spoke, 'Shut up, we don't talk in these sessions for a reason!' To be fair we didn't talk a lot during the sessions, but would comment if there was something we wanted to make sure we made a note of when we were finished.
Sessions carried on through the summer of 2015 in much the same vein. Volunteers experiencing a relaxation they had never felt before, sometimes feeling that loved ones were close; whilst during our reiki share sessions Mary and I continued to have interaction with our team of helpers – there is another full story attached to this but I'll save that for now!
September 2015 brought the start of a whole new experience that was all about a healing. My husband and I spent the evening with a long time family friend at a mutual friends retirement party. He said to me, 'So Chris I hear that you have retired so what are you doing with yourself?'. My reply was 'Well you did ask!' so I went on, with great enthusiasm, to tell him about reiki and some of my recent experiences. I could see from his face that he was sceptical but finally he said 'Well, could it fix my ankle?' He explained that for a few years he had experienced a lot of problems and a lot of pain with his ankle, that he had seen his GP and a consultant and had finally been told that his only option was to have an operation to put pins into his ankle. The justification being that it would help a lot with the pain, but the downside would be a loss of flexibility. My friend, let's call him Ron, was sure this was going to curtail his golfing and cricketing exploits, which he loved and as you might expect he wasn't ecstatic about the prospect! I told him that I could not make him any promises but that as I was working for free he had absolutely nothing to lose.
More about Ron next time!’
