Signs episode 2 - with some tales from my readers

So a few weeks ago I asked if you had had any signs from spirit. Not just the creepy frightening kind. The kind that comforts you or lets you know everything will be ok. Sometimes it might be a feather falling at your feet, a cloud formation, or maybe it could be the robin that sings to you at your kitchen window whilst you’re doing the dishes.
I have had so many signs over the years.... finding cards from passed loved ones on birthdays, smells of perfume, but the strangest one that springs to mind was the night my beloved Granny Ed Passed away. It had been an awful week. My Grandad Bill had been taken into hospital after having a heart attack, he was quite poorly having had a heart condition for some time. My Granny Ed was then at home by her self. Not being able to drive she relied on my dad taking her to the hospital for visiting hours, and dropping with bits and bobs from the shops. Now in typical Granny Ed style she started to complain that she wasn’t feeling well, me and the rest of the family all thought she just feeling sorry for herself and wanted some attention. She had a heart of gold, but boy she could be a pain at times! I won’t go into details but the long and short of it was that she also ended up in the same hospital a few days later and we were shocked to realise she was gravely poorly. My aunty and cousins came up from Oxford to say their goodbyes and before we knew it she had gone. Luckily by now grandad was well enough to be wheeled over from his ward to her private room where he sat and held her hand. We got the call from my Dad during the night to say she had passed away. We all went to see her one last time and collect our family members that had stayed with her that night and went back home to my parents house where everyone was staying. After a round of cups of tea I headed off to bed and being worn out with emotion I fell asleep pretty quickly only to be woken up about an hour later by my mobile phone ringing. I screwed up my eyes and tried to focus on the screen to see who on earth was calling me in the middle of the night? The name flashing up was ‘Granny Ed’!! In a panic I silenced the phone and threw it down on the bed. My mind was racing! How was this possible? Was I dreaming? I checked my missed calls list and there was her name in the call log. I didn’t tell anyone the next morning, I kept it quiet, not wanting to upset anyone or have people think I was mad. I only wish I had answered, what did she have to say to me? I will never know!
Here a few of your stories... I loved reading some of your messages. I am keeping my writers anonymous as requested...
We will call our first writer Curly Sue... Her story is quite dark after having some issues with her mental health. She assured me that these stories are from deep in her past, and whilst I sure she still has the odd battle with her demons she is now quite well and settled so please don’t be alarmed. She told me that I was the first person that she had said this to... remember it’s good to talk!
‘So, one time when I was considering suicide, I went to a really remote lake with a bottle of pills and gin. I sat there contemplating then this woman appeared from nowhere and started talking to me about how the lake looks really murky from above but underneath, there is life and although it’s difficult for them, they are doing their best to hang on and survive until the clearer water comes because they know it will, they just have to sit out and survive until it comes. Then she just disappeared.
Another time, I actually took an overdose and drifted off to sleep. In my dream, I was dying and was just slipping away when my door slammed shut and woke me up then I started being violently sick so the tablets came up.
When I first visited the place where my mum’s body was found, I was wandering round in a field looking for the spot and a little white butterfly was following me. My instincts told me where to go and when I got to this particular place, I got this overwhelming sense of love and sadness. I went to buy some flowers from the nearby petrol station, they only sold daisy plants so I bought a plant. I went to go for lunch at the pub but there was now where to park so instead I headed to the tea rooms. When I went to the toilet, there was a ‘in loving memory Mum’ plaque for sale - the writing was in a heart with a daisy and white butterfly on the outside!
Even now, I often wake up during the night and sense someone in my room - sometimes I feel like it’s my mum, sometimes papa.
I work in the care industry and I often know when people are going to die, I am never wrong. My uncle died on my birthday last year - the night before, I was very restless and I kept thinking about him. Every time I tried to sleep, his name just popped in my head and I kept thinking he was going to die. I hadn’t seen him for years and wasn’t particularly close to him. I finally went to sleep around 1am, in the morning I woke up to a text off my auntie at 01.10am telling me he had died at 00.50am’
Our next writer we shall call Bob...
‘I was always a believer of spiritualism but the event that really confirmed if for me was about 11 years ago when my eldest was 6 months old.
He was ill with rotavirus and became so dehydrated that he needed to be admitted to hospital. He spent a few days in and recovered to the point where he could come home. That first night I was really worried and went to check on him. As I went into the room there was a smell of honey and a sense of calm came over me. To this day I’m convinced his guardian angel was with him.
I have quite a few stories!
My sister in law passed away four years ago after suffering a brain haemorrhage aged 32. Her two daughters came to live with us for a year as their dad (ex husband) was a waste of space. We had numerous arguments with him over the girls and one day I said to my wife that I wish we knew what Clare wanted. That evening I had a dream and she appeared and told me that we should stop fighting her ex and try to get along.
My mum was a nurse and when she first started nursing she was working nights in North Manchester Hospital. One night she was working on a ward and she heard someone calling for help from the toilet. She went into check and couldn’t find anyone. She went into the cubicle and suddenly the door closed behind her and door locked. She felt a presence pass through her and then the door unlocked. It was then she realised that she was on the orthopaedics ward and most people couldn’t walk.
My dad was in the merchant navy prior to having me and as part of his role he had to check the cargo holds prior to setting sail. He went to check the freezer and found a sailor huddled in the corner. When he went to check him, he vanished in front of him. A number of other sailors had previously seen the same figure.
Final one was around my old house in Little Lever. When I was around 6 years old I was lay in bed reading a book when I saw something move across the room out of the corner of my eye. The next thing the light bulb on my bedside table exploded.
A few years later, after my mum and dad had split, I was in bed and I could hear a voice saying over and over “I keep warning you! what have I told you?”. For about 5 minutes I was terrified and couldn’t move until eventually I got enough courage to run out of bed and find my mum. She took me back to my room and I could still hear the voice but she couldn’t. I was convinced it sounded like my dad so mum had to ring my dad to convince me it wasn’t real.
Years later when I we were at high school, a friend came to stay over for the night and he walked into my kitchen and suddenly turned white and ran out of the house. He refused to go back into the house and went home. He later told me he’d seen a hooded figure stood in the corner staring at us.’
I would love to hear more of your stories so please keep them coming!
